Dealer Terminology
The design of the layout will attract players with questions. The
large yellow blackjack printed at the center of the layout is to inform
the players that this is a game of blackjack.
When a new player sits at the table you should explain that this is
a blackjack game and they may play normal blackjack by placing their
bets in the "P" arrow. If they believe the dealer will win the next round
they should place their bet in the "D" arrow.
"P" players are playing normal blackjack. They must give hit or
stand hand signals. They may hit, stand, split or double as desired.
A "P" player with a blackjack is paid 3 to 2 unless the dealer also has
a blackjack for a push.
"D" players are betting the dealer will have a winning hand. That
is the preferred terminology not they are betting on the dealer. These
players do not make any decisions on how to play the hand. When a
players cards total a soft 17 and under, the dealer will hit the cards
until the hand totals a hard 17 or higher. The player does not give
any hit or stand signal and the dealer deals the cards to house rules
of soft 17. If the player busts the cards are stacked at the insurance
line and the cheques placed on top of the cards. You must then notify
the player they are "still in the game". This is very positive statement
for a player.
The dealer pay and take of losing bets is in normal blackjack
fashion from dealer right to dealer left. It does not matter which side
the player bet during the pay and take procedure. "P" and "0"
player's winnings are paid next to their bet.
When the dealer has a blackjack, remember to take the "Ps" and
pay the "Ds" (even money).
Toke bets for the dealer are placed at the tip of the "D" arrow.
They play with the hand the player bet. Because players may bet on
the dealer hand winning, you will be able to increase the amount of
money you earn.
